Module 4 Discussion: Lead From Any Seat

This discussion is for Week 4, after you have started Module 4: Career Growth & Leadership.

In Module 4, you’ll focus on leading without needing a title. Leadership can look like welcoming someone new, noticing a problem before it grows, taking initiative within your scope, or lifting a teammate with helpful feedback. The module frames this as three moves: lead from any seat, own it, and lift others.

To complete this Week 4 discussion:

Post your response by Wednesday of Week 4.
Reply to at least two classmates by Friday of Week 4.

In your post, share:

  1. One example of someone you’ve seen lead without a title.
  2. What they actually did that made a difference.
  3. Which leadership move it connects to: Lead from any seat, Own it, or Lift others.
  4. One leadership move you can make during your first month on shift.

In your replies, be specific and encouraging. Build on a classmate’s idea, ask a thoughtful question, or point out a leadership strength you noticed in their example.

Remember: You don’t need permission to lead. You need to care, notice, and act.

Greg Zippi has spent more than three decades leading sales and marketing teams in nine different startup and growth-stage software companies. The largest, and first, software company he ever joined was Oracle Corporation which had annual revenues of $53 Million when he became a member of the team in 1986. Following his time at Oracle, he’s worked with nine companies, three of which went public, and five were sold to larger enterprises.
Mr. Zippi teaches courses in Professional Sales, Sales Management, and High Tech B2B Sales with an emphasis on early to mid-stage growth organizations. He earned his MBA from Brigham Young University.
